- 8–10% of pregnancies go through prematurely ruptured foetal membrane also known as PROM. PROM is a pregnancy complication that when detected too late can cause serious harm to the baby and the mother.
- It is an easy to use, highly sensitive indicator that changes colour in seconds if it detects amniotic fluid
- Non-invasive and non-threatening to the mother
- Amnicators are individually wrapped sterile swabs which contain a sensitive pH indicator, nitrazine yellow. Normal vaginal pH ranges between 4.5–6.0, while the amniotic fluid is usually 7.0–7.5. Anything above a 6.4 could indicate a ruptured membrane
- Amnicator® changes colour depending on the pH level, which means the healthcare professional can easily detect the presence of amniotic fluid
- Amnicators will reliably distinguish neutral or slightly alkaline amniotic fluid from acidic cervical and vaginal mucus or urine. Leakage of even a small amount of fluid is sufficient to change the nitrazine yellow indicator
